NSW Opener
Superb news for the Blues as we hope to break the dirty Vics run of 3 domestic T20 finals in a row, especially with our first choice ‘keeper Brad Haddin tied up against the Saffas. One can’t blame Prince Brendan for hedging his bets – if the KKR don’t make the pay day then he’s definitely in with the Blues, fair play to him.
New South Wales have secured a major coup with Brendon McCullum, the big-hitting New Zealand wicketkeeper, drafted in to the state’s squad for the Australian domestic Twenty20 final in Sydney on Saturday. McCullum owns the most famous century in the format for his 158 off 73 balls in the opening match of the inaugural Indian Premier League and by playing for the Blues he will immediately qualify for the lucrative Champions League Twenty20 in October.
However, in the same article are these comments from NSW CEO Dave Gilbert which I find most disturbing
“With the potential losses the New South Wales squad may suffer depending on which two IPL teams qualify for the Champions League, it is vital that we strengthen our squad ahead of that tournament,”
What the FúCK! If the qualifying IPL “franchises” contain any New South Wales players, they get to pick OUR players to play for them AGAINST US! I can’t fúcking believe this. Stupid bloódy Indian franchises with their 9 months of history and poxy names, throw cash around to loan our players for the IPL, fair enough they can use the money, but to then have first pick of OUR players AGAINST US is a fúcking outrage.
I think of players such as Dave Warner, Moises Henriques and Stephen Smith who’ve come through the junior development programs we have in place, and there’s obviously a fair investment over a period of time in these players. Now some bollywood wánker gets first bite cause they pony up with a barrow full of rupees?
Surely, at the very least they’ll need to get the player released by their home state, at the discretion of the home state, and with a very large wad of cash exchanging hands. The very notion that these Indian blow-ins own our fúcking players makes my blood boil.
I don’t know all the facts, yet, but that never stopped me before.

On the surface the warm up game between the two News (Zealand and South Wales) means very little anyone.
Just a warm up game before a test series, and we know how seriously people take warm up games these days.
But there is a little spice on this one, a jalapeno named Matthew Mott.
Just so you know that could be the most exciting way Matthew Mott has ever been described.
You see the Kiwis are taken with the worlds former most boring cricketer and want him as coach of their rag tag bunch of ICL auctioneers.
His work to turn a New South Wales team into shield champions with only 9 international cricketers (and one who will be shortly) has them excited.
Mott is not convinced though, he sees New Zealand as a step down.
NSWales has been wooing him hard, offering him a 2 year deal and mentioning that they were the ones that gave him his big break.
But a more attractive man, Prince Brendan McCullum, has been wooing him also.
Mott has to choose between the people who believed in him, nurtured him, gave him a light blue speedblitz cap. They are good god fearing people who can’t offer him a lot, but are salt of the earth.
Or New Zealand, who offer the glitzy life of international cricket with all its cocaine and hooker mentality. The sort of people that like to party hard and throw their money around.
It’s a tough decision, but I expect Mott to pick NSWales, they are the safer option for him.
Although it’s hard to say no to a prince.

…
South Australia took a punt with their captain, the selected someone who looked like he came from a private school young conservatives training camp and gave him the job.
Never mind that he has only ever had one good year of first class cricket and a batting average worse than a West Indian youngster.
Nathan Adcock wasn’t a bad captain, it would be a hard to lead a team that are this hopeless.
Adcock has talent as a batsman, but he doesn’t make runs, and never has, so making him captain seemed like an odd decision at the time.
This year he has bowled better than Dan Cullen, but probably batted worse, and after about 7 games of him hardly making a cracker he has been fired.
Replaced by a middle-aged keeper batsman who was probably surprised he didn’t get the job in the first place.
Lets look at what the South Australia team has given the national side of recent times.
The fastest bowler in the world who earns over 400,000 bucks a year for not playing.
A batsman less fit than me, that comes back from England every year with an extra chin.
The champion prodigal spinning team of the shirt shifter, and the leg spinning saviour. One who can’t get wickets, and the other can’t get a game.
The only players they have that are any good are on the McGain side of 30 and are of no use to anyone.
So with no young players pushing for selection, a captain dismissed for poor form and their fast bowling legend getting king hit I can see no other option but for South Australia to be relegated to district ranks.
Perhaps Canberra or NT could be promoted.
Maybe even New Zealand.
